Big thanks to anyone reading this blog who said nice things about our performance in Cardiff last week, you made us collectively blush! We’re still doing a lot of writing at the moment, so keep em peeled as there will be some new recordings up on our myspace soon enough. As well as some remixes of tracks that we will post here for you to enjoy. Just to let you know as well we will be playing at the Christmas Gig at The Talbot in Wrexham alongside Light Syndicate and others

For now here’s a video of a legend doing what he does best, be sure to check out his symphony for 100 guitars.

A happy Monday to you all….

Not much going on today as far as Gallops! is concerned, just writing/scrapping new music and wasting hours getting zoned out penning monotonous sequencer loops that will hopefully develop into something fit for public consumption. Or not. Ableton is ruining my life…..

In the meantime i thought i’d share the trailer to one of the greatest/worst films about a killer baboon i’ve ever seen. If you can find this on DVD i can’t recommend it enough, you are most likely to find it in one of those bargain DVD baskets in bookshops amongst badly-dubbed 1970’s kung-fu movies. We’re thinking of covering the theme tune live, we will see.

Don’t pay more than a pound, if it’s more than a pound steal it……

Kaz Bar, Cardiff

Kaz Bar, Cardiff

Some days feel like they’re cursed.

We left Wrexham for Cardiff mid afternoon on Friday in Moz’s car, we were let down by a local van hire company who shall remain nameless. After a rather hefty detour via the hills of Llangollen to pick up some essentials from our quaint practice barn we were on our way to Cardiff and in good time (just about!)

However, after around another 10 miles into our journey we had a minor collision with a Vectra whilst pulling off at a roundabout. The bloke we crashed into got out his car rubbing the back of his neck, showing all the textbook symptoms of minor womens whiplash. Amateur Dramatics. After a longer than necessary dispute, Moz and the driver swapped details and came to an agreement which will hopefully avoid anyone losing there no claims bonus. To be fair, the driver seemed like a nice chap and the situation could definitely have been alot worse. With only some minor damage to the paintwork and headlight we were back on the road, half hour behind schedule though.

Being stuck behind a lorry travelling at 30mph on a national limit road for around another half hour delayed our journey severely and by the time we had passed Hereford it was looking as though we might not make it for the gig. Luckily we received a call from the promoter in Cardiff telling us that the gig had been held back an hour due to the other performers having similar problems. Relief…

No one told us that there was a huge Rugby match on in Cardiff, making access to the city extremely difficult. The traffic on the way into Cardiff was horrendous and we then discovered that we could not get to the venue in the centre of the city due to police roadblocks. However, after sweet talking a very helpful police woman we were allowed through. Thank you Mrs Officer.

We arrived at the Kaz Bar venue at around 8pm and were due onstage at 8.30. Only getting to line-check is always horrible but i guess its what you get if you don’t research local traffic restrictions. Despite having to DI one of our guitars due to the lack of an amp which we had been promised and the sound in the venue being questionable at best the gig went extremely well and the crowd were nice and responsive to our noodlings. Thank you Cardiff, we cant wait to come back!

Also, a big thanks to I Am Austin for the loan of the kick drum to James Yuill and Casiokids who both put on amazing shows and were top geezers. As well as Moshi Moshi Records for putting us on your night and Bethan and Huw for coming down to see us! Many beers were drunk and a great night was had by all despite the hiccups of the journey down…

See you all next time
